AJ City Dancehall Drop

With the rise of Nigerian Hiphop, it seems AJ Dancehall, popularly dubbed ghetto Music, has since lost love. Although the fathers of Ajegunle music i.e Daddy Showkey, Baba Fryo, Junior and Pretty, and many other notable ghetto soldiers rarely get mentioned when discussing nigerian music today, new acts like Marvelous Benji, Big Tanker, Bobby Model, Artquake, Raymond King, Nutty and Waffy have since picked up where the fathers left off.

This drop features joints from some of today’s top talents like Femi the Junglist, fire boy, Omo Jesu, Big Tanker, Nutty and Waffy, Flekta Man, Professor Linkin, Rayan T, StereoMan, and more.

In my opinion, i’d say the genre has undergone transformation from music that mainly celebrated the ghetto, to a more widely accepted style, although not in it’s original form. Artistes like Bigiano, Klever Jay, AY.com, Kelly Hansome, Timaya, Dee Bee, and Terry G are just of the the artistes that come to mind when discussing the renaissance in ghetto music.

Shouts to DJ Zimo and Cos Canino of underdarock.com for the video. Support Raggae Music in Nigeria.
