#FlasbackFriday: Fela’s Water No Get Enemy Remix by Femi Kuti, Macy Gray, D’Angelo
This Friday’s flashback track is one that not a lot of people know about and some that heard it a while back simply forgot about it.
Red Hot + Riot also referred to as (Red Hot + Riot: The Music and Spirit of Fela Kuti) is a compilation which was produced by Paul Heck and released October 15 2002. It featured more than three dozen artists with the proceeds going to AIDS awareness effort. Amongst the tracks in the compilation, is this incredible Remix of Fela’s classic track Water No Get Enemy by Femi Kuti, Macy Gray, D’Angelo, The Soultronics (Feat. Nile Rodgers & Roy Hargrove).
D’Angelo who just got back from a sabbatical stunt featured on this one and Macy Grey with that beautiful voice of hers also helped in making this song the beauty it is, Femi as you’d expect didn’t just seat back and watch as he also got into action and helped in putting a new twist on the song tons of people love.
Certainly one to put on Replay.
