One of my favorite African divas of all time, Angélique Kidjo was born in Cotonou, Benin and started singing and dancing with her mother’s performing group by age six, giving her an early appreciation for traditional music and dance. Her musical influences came from both her father’s Fon and mother’s Yoruba backgrounds.
